After a moment, the Desktop interface appears, as shown in Figure 35.

Starting the Graphical Desktop
If you had problems configuring your graphical system, you may need to start the
graphical system manually after logging in.
NOTE: If you need to configure graphics after installation,
log in as root and run either the XF86Setup command (watch
the capitalization) or lizardx command. Follow the on-screen
instructions to configure your system. Contact Caldera Sys-
tems support if you have trouble.
OpenLinux 2.3 includes the KDE 1.1.1 graphical Desktop. Navigating this Desk-
top is equivalent to navigating a Microsoft Windows or Macintosh interface: you
use your mouse to select menus, open dialog boxes, click icons, and drag and
drop text or icons to complete your tasks.
The Desktop provides a very easy to use interface to all the common tasks you’ll
need in Linux. Chapter 5 describes how to use many of these Desktop features.
